Josh and Jacob part II
This was a follow up shoot from the one back in April when Jacob was just a month old. The two boys, Joshua and Jacob were shot together. Joshua loved having his photo taken and towards the end of the shoot, even helped me take some aerial shots of him jumping onto the bed!

Sam, Vivian and Boys
A few month's back I photographed Joseph's christening. Sam and Vivian, the proud parents, asked me to do a family shoot - given Samuel had recently appeared on the scene, it was a special time for the family.
The two brothers (Joseph and Stefan) played the part of big brothers very well. Samuel was very sleepy initially, but stirred later on in the shoot and was a great little poser!

White Keys & Black Stripes - Gig @ The Bodega, Wellington, NZ
Recently I shot a music gig at the Bodega - this is New Zealand's longest running music venue and is based in the capital, Wellington.
The band performing were White Keys & Black Stripes and they played to a very spirited and packed audience!

Liam's Christening
Baby Liam has been photographed over several sessions at 3 months of age, 4 months of age and 9 months of age. He was photographed within his home environment which allowed for some beautiful, relaxed and natural photographs to be taken with him and his parents. Kathryn and Gareth were so impressed with their home photographs, they invited us to attend Liam's Christening to capture their precious baby on this important family day.

Joseph's Christening
This was another family related assignment, combining family portraiture with an event. Joseph was Christened last weekend and I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph this special day for the family.

Kat & Liam Shots
Little Liam was a delight to work with, he had a great rapport with the camera and was more than happy to smile in front of the lens. This selection of shots were taken over two sessions - one in late November 2008 and the second in late January 2009.
As mentioned in an earlier blog, taking shots at home works well with keeping all concerned relaxed and happy. However, I am a firm believer in avoiding using flash if possible and making use of all available natural light.
Bedside shots work well especially if there is a contrasting background or duvet in this case. Also it is worth experimenting with different angles. The two lenses that I use for these shots are the Canon 24-105mm L IS USM and the Canon 85mm f1.8 - the latter, although a fixed focal length, steps down to just f1.8 which can really make portraits "pop".
Always on the look out for detail. Although the above shot is cliched, it is still a fun one to do!
